His rank is Lieutenant Commander. He is a southerner with an off beat sense of humor. And he likes to use his "country" persona to disarm people. Despite that he is a brilliant and outstanding engineer.
Trip has little first hand experience with new races. So when it comes to the aliens he is "a fish out of water".
In the first episode of Enterprise he seems to have a bit of a "crush" on T'pol. Don't ya think.
